Keeping a settlement after the plaintiff declares bankruptcy

In a settlement of a lawsuit in which we prevailed, our organization received a sum of money for our legal out of pocket expenses.

3 months later the plaintiff at the time then declared personal bankruptcy. Now the trustees are after our settlement, what rights if any do we have to keep our settlement?
